Karnataka High Court Denies Bail to Prajwal Revanna in Multiple Cases
BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court has rejected former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna’s requests for bail in a rape case and anticipatory bail in two additional cases involving serious allegations. Justice M. Nagaprasanna delivered the verdict on Monday, stating simply, “rejected,” with detailed reasoning to follow.
Prajwal’s legal team sought bail after a special court denied it on June 26, 2024, regarding allegations from a former maidservant. The court had previously dismissed two anticipatory bail petitions tied to complaints from other victims.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID is handling the cases, which include charges of criminal force, intimidation, and rape. Prajwal’s counsel contended that delays in filing the complaints undermined the cases, citing a negative forensic report in one instance. However, the special public prosecutor countered that threats silenced the victims, resulting in the delayed reports. The prosecutor emphasized the positive forensic findings in another case and raised concerns about the potential flight risk if bail were granted.
This ruling adds to the ongoing scrutiny surrounding Prajwal Revanna amid serious allegations.
